Legendary hip-hop pioneer Slick Rick is not happy about relative newcomer Fetty Wap’s eye swag. Apparently, the trailblazer is saying that Fetty is infringing upon Slick Rick’s trademarked “crazy eye.” The iconic Rick plans on taking the young hip-hop upstart to court in order to resolve the issue. He is seeking $10 Million in Damages.
Slick Rick stated in an interview:
“he’s completely biting my style and that was something that made me a lot of money, but I look at this kid and he’s making more money than I could have ever dreamed of. If he’s going to use my whole screwy eye thing, then he needs to break some bread for the man that came before him.”
An apparently confused Fetty Wap responded by saying:
“I don’t know who Slick Rick is, like I literally don’t know who Slick Rick is. I think he rapped back in Harlem in the 30’s or something. I don’t know who he is, but I lost this eye when I was a kid. I don’t have any other choice but to have it look all crazy. It’s an actual medical condition.”
We’ll see if the court agrees with Mr. Wap when the two go to court later this year to settle the issue.
